Dhaka – The government has extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns for the 2025-26 fiscal year by an additional month for individual taxpayers and Hindu undivided families.
According to a new order from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the deadline has been pushed from December 31, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
The decision was made in the public interest under Section 334 of the Income Tax Act, 2023, with prior government approval, a notice from the NBR says.
This marks the second extension, following an earlier postponement from the original date of November 30 to December 31, which was granted due to practical difficulties faced by taxpayers.
The latest extension aims to facilitate wider compliance and reduce pressure on taxpayers. The NBR has urged all eligible taxpayers to utilize the extra time and file their returns before the revised deadline to avoid any penalties or complications.
