12 directors of Ctg Chamber resign

    A total of 12 directors, out of 24, of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) have resigned in the wake of demonstrations demanding their resignation.

    Of them, two resigned earlier and 10 others on Sunday, CCCI Secretary Md Faruk confirmed the matter to the Daily Sun.

    The rest of the directors, including President Omar Hazzaz, son of former lawmaker MA Latif, would resign by Monday, said the secretary.

    The directors resigned on Sunday included vice-president Raisa Mahbub, daughter of FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam, Ahid Siraj Chowdhury Swapan, Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, Abu Sufian Chowdhury, Akhtar Uddin Mahmud, Md Akhter Parvez, Iftekhar Hosen, Mohammed Adnanul Islam, Md Rezaul Karim Azad, and Alamgir Pervez.

    Earlier, senior vice-president Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin and director Jahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir resigned from their posts.

    A group of businesspersons have been staging demonstrations on several occasions since 18 August, to press home their six-point demand, including the resignation of the CCCI leaders.
