The US embassy in Dhaka has welcomed Bangladesh for opening first-ever metro rail service to get rid of a nagging traffic congestion that eats up millions of working hours every day in its national capital Dhaka.

“Congratulations to Bangladesh for inaugurating the country’s first ever Metrorail in Dhaka,” the US embassy wrote in its Facebook post.

The embassy also thanked the troop of six female metro train operators, including Maryam Afiza, who operated the maiden train, in which Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina travelled along with a number of invited guests from Diabari station to Agargaon near her official residence.
