
Bogra – Police in northern Bangladeshi district of Bogra have killed two suspected members of a banned Islamist outfit after they attacked the lawmen during a raid in the area, officials said Monday.
The suspects are believed to be the members of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB, which is responsible for a number of terrorist attacks in the South Asian country.
The gun battle occurred at Nikhilpara village in Sherpur in district in the early hours of Monday. Police identified one of them as Khaled, military commander of northern region of the outfit.
The identity of the second suspect could not be ascertained yet.
Officer Gaziur Rahman said that the lawmen launched the rain on information that a group of JMB activists were planning act of sabotage in the night.
Sensing the presence of police, the militants fire their guns with law enforcers to retaliation leaving the two killed on the scne.
One pistol, four bullets and huge bomb-making equipments were seized at the spot.
