Chittagong – Police on Friday arrested two more people in suspicion of murder of the wife of a counter-terrorism officer in the Bangladeshi port city of Chittagong.
Additional Police Commissioner of Chittagong Devdas Bhattacharya said the lawmen picked up Shaku Sikder and Mohammad Shahjahan from Rangunia area of the district early on Friday.
Shaku is the brother of Musa Sikder, the prime suspect of the killing Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, the wife of police officer Babul Akhter.
Mitu was hacked and shot dead at GEC crossing of the city by unidentified assailants on June 5 when she was on her way to drop her son to school.
Bhattacharya said latest captured suspects, Shahjahan was on the scene. His name was disclosed by another suspect earlier arrested by the investigators, he said.
The suspects will be placed before the court to seek permission for custodial interrogation.
Police, earlier, arrested Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, Washim and Anwar Hossain in connection with the murder. They confessed to their involvement, he said.
