Noted writer Syed Shamsul Haq was remembered in Manikganj through cultural events and discussion.

Sangskritik Biplobi Sangha arranged the programme at the district auditorium on Tuesday night. The noted writer died on September 17 at the age of 81.

Six singers rendered ten songs written by Syed Shamsul Haq.

Senior singer Nasrin Ahmed sang ‘Jar Chhaya Porechhe Moneri Aynate Se Ki Tumi Nou’ and ‘Pagol Pagol Manushgulo Pagol Sara Dunia, Keho Pagol Rup Dekhia Keho Pagol Shunia’, Sabrina Momtaz Momo sang ‘Onek Sandher Moyna Amar Badhon Kete Jai’ and Chander Sathe Ami Debo Na Tomar Tulona, Nodeer Sather Ami Debona Tomar Tulona, Tumi Je Tomar Tulona’, Betar enlisted singer Mohidur Rahman sang ‘Kehoi Kore Becha-Kena Kehoi Kandee Rastay Pore, Dhorbi Jodi Tare, Cholo Mushider Bajare’, Betar enlisted singer Emili Parvin sang ‘Neel Akasher Neeche Amii Rastaa Choleechhi Eka’ and ‘Tora Dekh Tora Dekh Tora Dekhre Chahiaaa, Rastaa Dia Haitaa Chole Rasta Haraiyaa’, singer Kajol Pal rendered sang ‘Haira Manush Ranger Manush Dom Furailey Thush, Tobito vai Karor-e Nai Ektukhani Hush’ and ‘Amar Ei Mon Kare Jeno Bhalobesechhe, Janina Se Ridoye Kokhon Esechhe’ and Nina Rahman sang ‘Tumi Asbe Bole Tumi Dakbe Bole Bhalo Basbe Bole’.

Farhad Hossain assisted the singers with tobla while Aminur Rahman Liton with Dotara and Habibur Rahman assisted the singers with Mondira.

Mostafizur Rahman Mamun, former secretary of Manikganj district unit of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, recited from the poem ‘Ekdin Kal Purnimay Nuruldin Debe Dak Jago Bahe Junthe Sobai’. Mosharaf Hossain and Ramendra Halder also recited from the poem at the function.

Earlier s a discussion was held with Shahidul Islam Faruk, president of the SABIS, presiding. Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, additional deputy commissioner (general) of Manikganj was chief guest and Abdus Salam, public prosecutor of Manikganj Judge Court, was the special guest at the discussion.

Among others, Professor Urmila Roy, former principal of Narayanganj Government Women College, Mir Mokhsedul Alam, assistant professor of Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossain Khan College, Dipak Kumer Ghosh and Sakhawat Hossain, president and general secretary respectively of Manikganj district unit of Ekattorer Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee, Riaz Uddin Ahammed Pannu, general secretary and Kamal Ahmed Komol, treasurer of the SABIS addressed.

They said Syed Shamsul Huq was a Banglai. He will remain alive through his works.
