Barisal – A suspected bandit was gunned down in a reported ‘gunfight’ with law enforcers in southern Bangladeshi district of Barisal, said police on Monday.

The gun battle took place near Kundu Bari on Bakerganj-Barguna road in Bakerganj leaving Khokon Khan, 38, a leader of a robber gang, killed, district police chief Akhtaruzzaman said.

He added that the police fired their guns after the gang attacked on them during a search operation at around 2 am.

Two handguns, two sharp weapons and nine rounds of bullet were seized from the spot, said the district police chief.

Khokon was wanted in 16 cases including for robbery and murder, said the police officer.
