
Rangamati – At least six people have been killed and several others injured after a building collapsed in south-eastern Bangladeshi district of Rangamati, police said on Wednesday.
The two-storey residential building collapsed at Reserve Bazar of the district on Tuesday evening, leaving four people killed on the scene. The building, which was located on the side of a lake, devoured into the water.
Rescuers from the Fire Service and Civil Defence department and the army retrieved two more bodies from the rubbles of the building later.
A joint team from firefighters, army, navy and police rescued four people from the building as they trapped inside.
Officer Chittaranjan Pal said it is assumed that some 17 members of four families were residing in the building as tenants.
The officer said two people remained missing.
