Pori Moni, a Bangladeshi film actress, was sent to jail after the investigators completed a one-day custodial interrogation in a case she was accused for amassing illegal drugs under the Narcotics Control Act, police said on Saturday.
The actress was arrested at her home in Dhaka after the crime-busting Rapid Action Battalion raided her home on August 5 and seized huge quantity of foreign liquor and other drugs from her possession.
A Dhaka court ordered her to be in jail pending trial after the Criminal Investigation Department officers produced her before the court on completion of their interrogation.
Investigation officer Inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa pleaded before the court that the defendant my tamper the investigation process and she may flee the country if she is granted bail, according to court sources.
The officer also mentioned that the accused disclosed important information during the custodial interrogation.
She faced six more days of custodial interrogation in two other phases since her arrest in the same case by investigators from other law enforcement agencies.
No petition seeking bail in the case was moved by the defence.
