Police confirm identities of five militants killed in Gazipur and Tangail

Dhaka – The identities of five out of 11 suspected militants were disclosed three days after they killed in shootouts near Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, police said on Tuesday.

Earlier, the police released photographs of bodies of six suspects asking the people to identify them with accurate information. The 11 suspects were killed during anti-militant raids in the central districts of Gazipur and Tangail.

The Rapid Action Battalion headquarters published photographs of two suspected militants killed in Tangail and Gazipur, and another one who was killed in Ashulia raid on the day.

Gazipur district police revealed identities of three out the seven “militants” while the battalion disclosed identities of one of the two suspected militants killed in Gazipur’s Lebu Bagan area while one of the two in Tangail town.

Police officer Harun-or-Rashid said they have identified the three Patartek militants as Saifur Rahman alias Bablu of Sylhet, Ibrahim Khalil from Old Dhaka and Faridul Islam Akash from Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj.

One of the Tangail shootout victim was identified as Ahsan Habib while another one Aminul Ehsan was killed in Lebu Bagan of Gazipur.

Ahsan is son of Altaf Hossain of Rani Nagar upazila in Naogaon district and Aminul is the son of Gaffar Mondol of Kalai upazila in Joypurhat.
