Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said people will vote for Awami League to power again in the next election due by January next year as her party is always by the people in their needs.
Hasina, Also the chief of the Awami League, made this remarks at a reception accorded to her by expatriated Bangladeshis in the United Kingdom in London on Sunday.
The Prime Minister is now in the UK at the final leg of her three-nation trip after she visited Japan and the United States of America.
During the reception, organized at the Marriot hotel in London, she also called upon Bangladeshi people not to vote for the alliance led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as they are out to destroy the country.
State-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency reported that the Prime Minister hoped her party will win the next general polls.
“God willing, the people will give us scope to serve them,” she said asking her leaders and activists to work confidently for the election victory.
Hasina accused the BNP of laundering money abroad and tried to destroy the country.
“So, how the people will have confidence in them?,” asked the Prime Minister adding that it was well known to all that the BNP-Jamaat alliance had earned the notoriety of stealing vote, carrying out grenade attacks, killing and looting.
By siphoning off money, the BNP-Jamaat clique put the country on the verge of the destruction, she said adding that the BNP’s acting leader Tarique Rahman had been sentenced for his corruption and the government had brought back some Tk 40 crore that was siphoned off by former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s younger son Coco.
Hasina reiterated her vision for Smart Bangladesh by 2041, saying, “We have formulated Delta-2100 plan. We have to take the country forward.”
Awami League works for the welfare of the people, she said.
