No HSC exam this year, evaluation based on previous exams

The global pandemic of novel coronavirus has forced the Bangladeshi authorities to call off the Higher Secondary Certificate tests, one of the key public exams, for tens of thousands of students in the South Asian country.

All exams equivalent to the HSC will also not take place, announced Education Minister Dipu Moni. The exam was originally scheduled for April, but it was postponed after the government announced school shutdown alongside the nationwide virus restrictions.

A new marking system will be introduced as the exam is cancelled. The students will be evaluated on the basis of their performances in the previously taken Junior School Certificate and Secondary School Certificate exams.

The minister also said the student’s evaluation will be published in December. The results of HSC will be determined by averaging the scores of their previous exams.
