Man arrested for threatening Bangladesh’s cricket star Shakib

Law enforcers have arrested a man on Tuesday who had threatened to kill Bangladesh’s international cricket star Shakib Al Hasan for hurting his religious sentiment by joining an event in India’s Kolkata recently.

Identified as Mohsin Talukder, 25, from the south-eastern Sunamganj area in Sylhet tea district was arrested by the elite Rapid Action Battalion and have been booked under the tough Digital Security Act for his Youtube threat two days ago.

He accused the cricketer of hurting his religious sentiment by joining a Dipawali celebration in Kilkata where he lighted a lamp along with his hosts as he was a Muslim, seen as a bizarre reason to act so rough.

Shakib soon after in a Youtube message apologised if his action in Kolkata had hurt anybody.

The Sylhet region is known for its religious conservatism and Diawalo is widely celebrated in Bangladesh embodying the spirit of spiritualism.
