The government has effected a major reshuffle in the army top brass with promotion of six senior officers, according to an order issued by the Armed Forces Division.

Five of them were promoted to the rank of Major General and the other was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant, a highly placed source said.

Major General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed was made the Quarter Master General as he was serving as General Officer Commanding of the RDC. The General Officer Commanding of the 55th Infantry Division Major General Humayun Kabir was made the Commandant at Log Area.

Maj General Mushfiqur Rahman who was the Log Area Commandant was not given fresh posting yet.

The General Officer Commanding of the 24th Infantry Division Major General SM Matiur Rahman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and posted as head of the (Army Training and Doctrine Command in Mymensingh.

The General Officer Commanding of the Ninth Division Major General Md Saiful Abedin was made the GOC of 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong. Major General Shakil Ahmed, the GOC of 19th infantry division in Sylhet, was made the Adjutant General at the Army Headquarters.

Major General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque of the School of Infantry and Tactics was made the General Officer Commanding of the ninth division at Savar. Brigadier General Kamrul Hasan has been promoted to the rank of Major General and made the GOC of 66th Infantry Division in Rangpur. He was the commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade at the army headquarters.

No posting was announced for the GOC of Rangpur Cantonment Major General Md Nazrul Islam.

Brigadier General Syed Tareq Hussain of the Information Technology Directorate was promoted as Major General and made the General Officer Commanding of the 19th Infantry Division.

The position of Military Secretary at the army headquarters was given to Brigadier General Khaled Al Amin, who was promoted to the rank of Major General.  He had been serving as head of the Military Intelligence.

Head of Army Training and Doctrine Command Brigadier General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazary was promoted to the rank of Major General. He was posted as commandant of the School of Infantry and Tactics. Brigadier General Md Nurul Anwar of the ninth artillery brigade was promoted to the rank of major general and posted as General Officer Commanding of the 55th infantry division, according to the order.
