Satkhira – A suspected criminal was gunned down in south-western Bangladeshi district of Satkhira as police say the man was killed during gunfight between lawmen and a gang.
Waliullah Molla, changed in 13 cases related murder, fraud, acts sabotage and extortion, was killed during the gunfight at Chorakhal village of Shyamnagar sub-district, police officer Sudhangso said.
He said the man was wanted for long time. Molla was general secretary of local unit of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
The officer said the criminals fired their guns and exploded home-made bombs when police tried to stop a group of suspected criminals on Saturday night at Chorathaler. The lawmen retaliated with bullets leaving Molla killed on the scene.
Two policemen were injured during the exchange of gunfire, he added.
The body was kept at Satkhira General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
