Internationally famed award-winning Bangladeshi magician Jewel Aich is being treated for COVID-19 in Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH), his family said Tuesday.
“He is in the Intensive Care Unit as his lungs have been affected,” a family friend said.
Jewel Aich, 70, who is Freedom Fughter of Bangladesh’s 1971 Independence War and winner of the prestigious state award Ekushey Padak, fell sick with high fever on 4 November.
Jewel Aich already has diabetes and high blood pressure.
He received the Ekushey Padak in 2003, besides a large number of national and international awards.
The magician who also plays the flute has staged his shows in major capitals of the world.
