Historic Mujibnagar day being observed

Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreath at his portrait in Dhaka marking the historic Mujibnagar Day.

After laying the wreath in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Monday, the prime minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.

Later, flanked by senior leaders of her party, Hasina, also the chief of ruling Awami League party, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.

The historic Mujibnagar Day is being observed to mark the formation of Bangladesh’s first government in exile to lead the War of Liberation in 1971.

Leaders and activists of party also placed wreaths at the graves of Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad and M Mansur Ali, who also played vital role in Bangladesh’s liberation war in Bangabandhu’s absence, at Banani Graveyard.
