Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said her government will the reward the nurses and physicians who treat the novel coronavirus patients risking their lives.
“I have asked the authorities concerned to prepare a list of
health workers who stood by the people in this difficult hours,” the Prime
Minister said while addressing officials through a video conferencing from her
official Gonobhaban residence on Tuesday.
She also thanked physicians and health workers for risking
their lives to help people during this time of crisis.
Those who avoided responsibility and did not rise to the occasion
will not be entitled for the rewards, which include health insurances, she said.
Irked by the reports of patients’ deaths because a lack of
hospitals, the Prime Minister also asked the authorities to prepare a separate list
to know who were among them avoided responsibilities.
“They don’t deserve to the in the profession. We have to
revise whether they should be continued in the profession in future,” Hasina
said adding that if needed Bangladesh would bring health professions from
abroad to face the crisis.
The Prime Minister feared that the cases of novel
coronavirus might surge in April (this month) and asked everyone to remain
careful to help themselves to remain healthy by maintaining government’s health
directives for social distancing.
