Fire kills five of a family in Thakurgaon

Dhaka – Five of a family were killed in northern Bangladeshi district of Thakurgaon as a fire broke out at a house on Tuesday, police said.

The fire originated at the home of Kharesh Chandra, a police officer in Pirganj, after a live electric wire fall on his house in the morning.

The fire engulfed the house soon and none of the inmates of the house could manage to come out.

Local residents rushed to the home and doused the flame. But they could not save anyone.

The deceased were identified as Kharesh Chandra, 45, his wife Keya Rani, 35, son Niloy, 10, daughter Nice, 15, and daughter-in-law Swarna Rani, 20, according to Rezawanul Haq, medical officer at Thakurgaon hospital.

The bodies were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
