Dhaka – Police have arrested four men who identify them as members of the detective branch of police from Dhaka’s Moghbazar area, officials said on Sunday.

The suspects – Shafiqul Islam Rana, Mohammad Apel, Mohammad Ibrahim and Mohammad Imran – used to target the people who carry cash money and cheat them, joint commissioner of detective branch of police Abdul Baten said.

The suspects used identify them as members of the detective branch of police while cheating on people in the city, said the officer.

Police also seized walkie-talkie, jackets usually wear by the DB, toy pistol, handcuffs among others from their possessions.

Baten said that the gang was arrested on allegations that they used to kidnap people and collected ransom in the name of DB police.

Legal actions will be taken against the suspects.
