At least 48 people have been died of Dengue fever this year as nearly 11,000 people are reportedly got infected by the virus borne by Adese mosquitos in Bangladesh, according to official statistics.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 330 Dengue cases, the highest single-day infections, were reported in the last 24 hours ended on Thursday, taking the total Dengue caseload to 10,981 since January.
The fatality tool raised to 48 with three more people died in the past day, said a press release of the DGHS.
Bangladesh reported its first Dengue death in early July. Twelve fatalities in the month which was by 30 in August.
Six people died on the first two days of September, it added.
The government data shows some 10,053 cases were reported alone in the capital Dhaka.
The government has dedicated six hospitals for the treatment of Dengue in Dhaka and elsewhere.
A 2019 outbreak of Dengue in Bangladesh infected more than 80,000 people, with 67 deaths.
