Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday announced the second wave of COVID19 is imminent as official health reports clearly show a steep climb of both new cases and deaths from the deadly virus.
Speaking to the leaders of her ruling Awami League virtually, she said her government has made arrangements to ensure whenever a vaccine is ready Bangladeshi people will get it first.
“Wear masks and follow other health advice,” she added.
Bangladesh recorded 30 more deaths in the 24 hours pushing the total number so far at 6,305, while.2,364 new cases were also detected taking the total since March this year to 441,159.
The government has taken a number of measures to contain COVID -19 including alerting hospitals and health workers.
However, most people continued to ignore the order to wear face masks and some 50 faced punishment of fine and brief internment.
