Restriction on overseas travel has been imposed on Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the managing director of Basundhara Group, after the businessman was accused in a case for allegedly abetting suicide of a young girl in Dhaka’s Gulshan.
A magistrate court in Dhaka on Tuesday imposed the restriction after investigators plead that Anvir may be needed for the shake of investigation.
Police officer Zafar Hossain said that the order was issued upon a petition filed by the officers investigating a case related to suicide of a young girl at an apartment in Gulshan.
The body of Mosarat Jahan Muniya, a college student, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the apartment of Road 120 of the Gulshan neighbourhood.
Muniya’s sister Nusrat Jahan alleged that her younger sister, a student of college, used to stay alone at the apartment rented by Anvir.
In the case filed with Gulshan police station, the plaintiff said Anvir promised her sister to get marry and rented the house for her. He occasionally used to visit the apartment.
She accused Anvir of instigating her to commit suicide.
Police have confiscated footage from the scene and phones, which was being used by the girl.
