Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has renamed its “External Publicity Wing” as “Public Diplomacy Wing” to boost its performance.
The ministry said the renaming was done as it wanted to enlighten the world about this South Asian country’s foreign policy and build a positive image.
“The government aims is to establish effective democracy in Bangladesh which was established through great Independence,” MoFA said.
It added that “it is essential to know the opinion of people from all walks of life in running the state in a democratic framework.”
The renamed wing has been tasked to bring onboard stakeholders to inform and get opinions to create awareness about government initiatives.
The wing has come under criticism at different times for non-performance.
