Dhaka – A Bangladeshi businessman was stabbed to death in front of his home in New York, media reports said quoting officials in the United States on Thursday.
US-based news agency NY News quoting police said around 44-year-old Zakir Khan was stabbed dead at his residence at Logan Avenue in Bronx at about NY time 9:30pm on Wednesday.
Primarily it has been believed Zakir Khan, a well-known personality among Bangladesh community in US, was fatally stabbed during an alleged dispute with his landlord.
Police detained the landlord, in his fifties, for his alleged involvement in the murder.
It has been known that Zakir Khan was a registered Democrat supporter.
Akbar Haider Kiron, director of Bangla TV in New York, said police found Zakir Khan with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Owner of Parkchester Real Estate in New York, Khan hailed from Fenchuganj of Sylhet district.
