
Dhaka – a Bangladeshi national was gunned down in Los Angeles, media reports on Tuesday.
The incident occurred after two Bangladeshi citizens including an Imam (Muslim cleric) were shot to death over a month in New York last month.
Bangladesh foreign ministry sources said the victim is identified as Mohammad Abul Kalam, who was a freedom fighter and hailed from Batakandi village at Titas sub-district in eastern Bangladeshi district of Comilla.
He lived in the United States along with his wife and son and daughter.
CCTV footage shows that the two armed masked-men fired guns on Kalam when he declined to give money to them. The gunmen demanded money at gunpoint while he was closing up the shop.
Los Angeles police is trying to capture the criminals after seeing the criminals the footage from CCTV.
Kalam also worked at Bangladesh Television and the advertising agency Bitopi after the country’s Liberation War, while he also resided in Japan for a few years before going to the United States.
