Dhaka – Bangladesh has reported deaths of 74 more people, the highest single-day fatality, from the novel coronavirus, ever since the country traced the first cases in March last year.
The virus death toll has rose to 9,521 with the new cases of deaths reported in the last hours ended on Thursday morning, according to an official statement.
Earlier on April 6, Bangladesh reported the single-day highest 66 deaths from the virus amid a nationwide lockdown to slow the spread of the outbreak.
The Directorate General of Health Services department said the death rate stands at 1.43 percent.
It added some 6,854 new infections were reported among 33,193 samples during the period taking the total number infections to 6,66,132 with a current positively rate to 20.65 percent.
The total positivity rate is counted at 13.55 percent.
Some 565,030 people recovered so far with 3,391 at the rate of 84.82 percent.
