Dhaka – Bangladesh has reported 33 more deaths from novel coronavirus, raising the toll from the virus to 2,424, officials said on Tuesday.
Some 3,163 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, making the total number infections in the South Asian country to 190,057 since the first three cases were reported in early March.
Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during an online briefing said the death rate from the virus is 1.28 per cent.
The current infection rate is 23.51 percent, she said adding that the recovery rate is 52.61 per cent.
A total of 103,227 persons have recovered so far with the condition of 4,910 patients improved in the last 24 hours, she said.
During the period 13,453 samples were tested in 79 labs across the country.
