Dhaka – The novel coronavirus has claimed 31 more lives in Bangladesh making the national death toll from the virus to 7,718, according to official tally released on Thursday.
Some 1,007 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours ended on Thursday morning. Both the number of fresh deaths and infections are reported as seven-day high.
The total number of infection stands at 519,905 since the virus was traced in the South Asian country on March 8.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services with the condition of 966 people improved the recovery count stands at 464,446.
A total of 15,381 samples were tested at 181 authorized laboratories across the country during the last 24 hours.
Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 6.55 percent tested positive, while 15.67 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far.
Some 89.33 percent patients have recovered and 1.48 percent died.
