The daily death toll from the Covid-19, a disease caused by the novel virus, has continued to rise in Bangladesh, with the country reporting more than 100 fatalities for the third straight day on Sunday.
Directorate General of Health Service, in a press release, said 102 more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours ended on Sunday morning, bringing the number of fatalities to 10,385.
Bangladesh recorded 101 daily Covid-19 deaths each on Friday and Saturday.
The government also reported some 3,698 new infections after testing 19,404 samples in the last 24 hours, making the total number of people infected by the virus to 718,950.
The government statement said the current positivity rate is 19.06 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.91 percent.
The recovery rate is 85.53 with a total of 614,936 Covid-19 patients recovered with some 6,121 in the last 24 hours.
Fifty-nine among the deceased was male while the rest were female.
Bangladesh has now been under a nationwide lockdown to slow the spread of the virus. The government ordered shutting of the offices, shopping malls and transportation until April 21.
