Dhaka – President Abdul Hamid has congratulated US president-elect Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential polls.

The US will march forward further on the path of progress and peace under the leadership of Donald Trump, the president said in a statement issued immediately after the election result was published.

“The existing relations of Bangladesh with the USA during the tenure of Donald Trump would be expanded further,” he hoped.

Republican candidate Donald Trump defeated Democratic Hillary Clinton to become the 45th US President for next four years. Trump will sworn in on January 10.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury congratulated Donald Trump for his victory.
