Dhaka – Eighty-three days in mortuary, five Islamist militants killed in commando operation after they murdered 20 civilians at a restaurant in Dhaka were buried at a graveyard in Dhaka, police said on Thursday.

A private charity, Anjuman-e-Mafidul Islam, buried the bodies of five militants and a chef of the cafe at Jurain graveyard after their families declined to take those bodies.

The bodies remained at the mortuary of Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka ever since they were killed in a commando operation.

The five militants are: Nibras Islam, Rohan Imtiaz, Meer Saameh Mubasheer, Khairul Islam Payel and Shafiqul Islam Uzzal, while the chef of the cafe is identified as Saiful Islam.

The terrorists who had taken the control over the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan diplomatic area on  July, 1 and killed 20 civilians, mostly foreign nations, and two policemen.

Islamic State, a radical Middle-East based Islamist group, claimed responsibility of the attacks while Bangladeshi government said that the home-grown terrorists carried out the cafe mayhem. The government identified the group as neo-JMB (Jamaatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh.)

Bangladeshi security forces killed at least 14 suspected militants of the group in the last two months as police said the neo-JMB was behind the attacks.
