
Faridpur – Bangladeshi security forces have captured four suspected Islamists militants, including a regional commander of a banned operative, in the central district of Faridpur, police said on Sunday.
Officer Jamil Hossain said that they arrested the members of Ansarullah Bangla Team during raids in different parts of the district.
The detainees were identified as Farid Mridha, 32, commander of Faridpur region of ABT, of Alamnagar village; Sahidul Islam, 35, of Mukutarchar village; Mohasin Mollah, 35, of Charvishnupur village under Sadarpur sub-district, and Nahid Mollah, 20, of Laxmipur village under Bhanga sub-district of the district.
The militants were learnt to have palled a operations in the district, the officer said adding that Farid also motivated the militants through religious speeches to carry out act of sabotages.
A pistol, a home-made gun, five bullets and 12 homemade bombs were seized from the possession of the suspects.
