AL announces new central committee, advisory council

Dhaka – Bangladesh Awami League has announced names of its leaders in all but four central committee positions to carry out their responsibility for the next three years.

The party in a press statement on Saturday published the almost full list of the central working committee members as it previously made public some of the names after the October 22-23 national council in Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the party’s president approved the committee last night at a meeting of the party presidium.

The council reelected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the president while Obaidul Quader was made general secretary of the party.

According to the AL statement, the members of the advisory council are; Dr. SA Malek, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Amir Hossain Amu MP, Tofail Ahmed MP, Suranjit Sengupta MP, Md Eshaq Mia, Md. Rahmat Ali MP, HT Imam, Mashiur Rahman, Alauddin Ahmed, Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Raziuddin Ahmed Raju MP, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir MP, Shafique Ahmed, Syed Abu Nosor, Satish Chandra Roy, Abdul Khaleq, Ruhal Haq MP, Kazo Akram Uddin, Syed Rezaur Rahman, Anupam Sen, Hamida Banu, Md. Abdur Razzak MP, Lt. Col (retired) Faruk Khan MP, Ramesh Chandra Sen MP, Abdul Mannan Khan.

Aminul Islam was made deputy publicity secretary.

The positions for International Affairs secretary, science and technology, youth and sports and deputy office secretary remained vacant.

Mamataz Uddin, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya MP, Quamrul Islam MP, Nurul Mazid Humayun MP, Khairuzzaman Liton, Simin Hossain Rimi MP, Munnuzan Sufian MP, Nurul Islam Thandu, RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Dipankar Talukder, Badruddin Ahmed Kamran, Akhtaruzzaman, SM Kamal Hossain, Mirza Azam MP, Nazibullah Hiru, Amirul Islam Milon, Rafiqul Islam, Golam Kabir Rabbani Chinu, Riazul Kabir Kawsar, Parvin Zaman Kalpana, Anwar Hossain, Iqbal Hossain Opu, Merina Jahan, Shammi Ahmed, Marufa Akhter Popy, Biplob Barua, Remond Areng.

AL parliamentary board

The 11-member parliamentary board of the Awami League is headed by president Sheikh Hasina. The board generally finalises party candidature in national elections.

The members of the boards are; Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury MP, Amir Hossain Amu MP, Tofail Ahmed MP, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Suranjit Sengupta MP, Syed Ashraful Islam MP, Kazi Zafar Ullah, Obaidul Quader MP, Professor Alauddin Ahmed, Md. Rashidul Alam.

In addition to the parliamentary board, the party finalises members of nomination board for the elections in local government institutions, municipalities and union parisahds.

Party chief Sheikh Hasina will head the nomination board.
