Bangladesh has reported 31 more deaths from the novel coronavirus, raising the fatality toll from the pathogen to 4,733, according to government statistics.
Some 1,476 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours ended on Sunday morning, making the total number of infection in the South Asian country to 337,520 since Bangladesh reported the first cases of infections on March 8.
A total of 12,999 samples were tested at 94 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. The Daily counts of deaths, infections and tests were however lower than that of the Saturday’s reports.
A government handout said the recovery count rose to 240,643 after condition of another 2,372 patients improved in the last 24 hours.
Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 11.35 percent tested positive, while 19.53 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, according to the handout.
Among the total infections, 71.30 percent patients have recovered, while 1.40 percent died so far.
Bangladesh reported the first death from the virus on March 18.
