Narayanganj mosque blast death toll rises to 29

The death toll from the mosque blast in Narayanganj has risen to 29 with another person died at a Dhaka hospital, doctors said on Thursday.

Thirty-seven persons, who suffered severe burns, were brought to Dhaka’s Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute after the explosion at Baitus Salat Mosque in Narayanganj on Friday from suspected gas leak left 40 people wounded.

A seven-year-old boy died hours after he was brought to the institute. 27 others died at the hospital until Tuesday.

The coordinator of the institute Samanto Lal Sen told reporters the lasted death was reported on Thursday morning.  The man is identified as Abdus Sattar. He suffered nearly 70 per cent of burn on his body.

The condition of the others victims who admitted at the hospital is stated to be critical.

Firefighters suspect the explosion was caused due to accumulation of gas from an underground pipeline.
