EDITORIAL; Bangabandhu’s fugitive killers must be brought back

Two important government ministers have said they were working to bring back fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and carry out the sentences given by the country highest court.

It is unbecoming for a country like the United States, Canada or Britain to harbour any kind of killers. Holding the flag of democracy and human rights, when these countries harbour wanted murderer it is nothing but double standard.

We hope the two already who have been tracked down in the USA and Canada will be expelled and handed over to Bangladesh to honour memory of Bangabandhu, one of the greatest nationalist leaders of the world as we celebrate his 100th birthday named “Mujib Barsho.”

Our bureaucrats, especially the diplomats, must leave no stone unturned to bring all the fugitive killers as they not only killed Bangabandhu and most his family, but also took back Bangladesh back to Pakistani fold. It is a double shame for them.

The Mujib Barsho cannot be a total success if the killers are not brought to justice to face their punishment the celebration will not be total.

We wish our officials quick success in fulfilling the wish of the people of Bangladesh which would not have been born without Bangabandhu’s leadership.
