Dhaka – The death toll from novel coronavirus in Bangladesh surpass 2,000 with 55 more deaths reported on Sunday, officials said.
Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the government’s health services directorate, said 55 people died in the last 24 hours ended on Sunday morning, raising the toll to 2,052.
The total number of infections surged to 162,417 with 2,738 new cases were confirmed during this period, she added.
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 72,625 with condition of 1,904 patients improved.
According to the statistics, the recovery rate is 44.72 per cent while the death rate is 1.26 per cent.
Bangladesh reported the first covid-19 cases on March 8, and the first death on March 18.
