The South Asian country also reported 3,775 fresh cases during the last 24 hours ended on Wednesday morning, said Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the government’s health services directorate.

With the fresh infections, the total number of Covid-19 patients stands at 149,258. Bangladesh reported the first cases of novel coronavirus on March 8.

Sultana said the recovery count rose to 62,102 after condition of 2,484 patients improved overnight.

Among the total infections, 41.61 percent patients have recovered while 1.26 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8, she said.

She said a total of 17,875 samples were tested at 69 authorised laboratories in the last 24 hours.
