Dhaka – Divers have pulled one more body trapped inside the ferry that capsized after being hit by another larger vessel in Buriganga river, officials said on Tuesday.
With the fresh recovery, the death toll from the Monday’s ferry accident rose to 33 as the rescuers towed the sunken vessel to the shore using air pillow bags.
The passenger ferry ML Morning Bird capsized after being hit by larger vessel MV Moyuri-2 on Monday morning. The divers found 32 bodies in the water on the first day of the rescue effort.
A man was also found alive inside the underwater vessel 13 hours after the accident.
Seven people, including the owner of the ferry that hit the smaller vessel, were charged for culpable homicide over the accident.
The government also launched an investigation to determine the reason behind the accident.
