Dhaka – Bangladesh has reported 39 more deaths from novel coronavirus, raising the toll in the South Asian country to 1,621, health officials said on Thursday.
Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the government’s health services, said that some 3,946 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours ended on Thursday morning. With the new cases the total number of Covod-19 patients rose to 126,606 since Bangladesh reported the first three cases of virus on March 8.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 17,999 samples were tested in 66 labs authorized in different heath facilities, Sultana said.
During this period 1,829 patients recovered, taking the total number of recovery to 51,495, she added.
The death rate is so far remained at 1.28 per cent while the infection rate is 21.92 per cent as per the detection of the cases, according to the health official.
