Dhaka – Senior Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim died on Saturday at a hospital in Dhaka, family said.
Nasim, a former health minister, died of age-old complexities after he initially diagnosed positive for novel coronavirus more than a week ago.
He had been on life support after suffering a stroke and breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka at about 11 am.
Awami League office secretary Biplom Barua confirmed it.
The 72-year old political veteran had a long career with Awami League. He was the spokesperson of the AL-led 14-party alliance.
He leaves behind his wife, three children host of well-wishers and political followers.
