Dhaka – Niloufer Manzur, the founder of Bangladesh’s one of the leading English Medium School, has died of novel coronavirus at the age of 74.
Manzur, the wife of one of Bangladesh’s prominent businessman Syed Manzur Elahi, breathed her last at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital on Tuesday morning, her family said.
She was tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, on Sunday. Her husband Elahi, who was one of the adviser of the former caretaker administration, was also tested positive for the virus.
Manzur founded Sunbeams School in January 1974. Her father late Dr Mafiz Ali Chowdhury was one of the members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujinur Rahman’s cabinet.
She is survived by husband Elahi, chairman of Apex Footwear Limited, son Syed Nasim Manzur and daughter Munize Manzur, relatives and host of well-wishers in home and abroad.
The family requested all to pray for her departed soul.
