M. Farid Khan, Vice Chairman of the Summit Group, has extended his hand of goodwill for the hapless people who have been hard-hit by COVID-19, his office said Thursday.
A spokesman said Khan has so far aided a minimum of 13,470 families with food and other essentials in and around Dhaka, including day workers who have no work and needed the badly needed assistance from his personal account.
Besides 165 families in other districts were sent cash using mobile banking service bKash. The process will go on for some time, he said, adding 780 sex workers also got the much needed assistance.
Rudro Saiful, a young politician and writer, is coordinating the whole process. Two organisations – Ekattor and Ekattorer Roktodhara – are involved with the process. Summit is one of Bangladesh’s leading business conglomerates.
