Dhaka – At least three more cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in the congested refugee camps in south-eastern Bangladesh as the total number of infections crossed 20,000 in the South Asian country, health officials said on Friday.
The death toll from the Covid-19, a dieses caused by the novel coronavirus, has risen to 298 with 15 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours ended Friday morning, said Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the government’s health service department.
She said the country reported record infections of 1,202 during the period as the health officials conducted tests among 8,582 samples. With the new cases, the number of Covid-19 cases stand at 20,065.
The health services official said 279 patients recovered during the period making the total number of recovery to 3,882.
Among the deceased, eight were female and seven male, Sultana said. She added two of them were above 81 years old, three above 60, eight above 50, one above 30 and another in his 20s.
