Dhaka – Benazir Ahmed has become the head of Bangladesh police force.
He took the charge as the Inspector General of Police on Wednesday from outgoing police chief Mohammad Javed Patwary at a ceremony in Dhaka’s police headquarters.
Benazir was adorned with the IGP rank badge at the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official Gonobhaban residence in the morning.
Benazir served as head of the Rapid Action Battalion prior to joining for the new assignment. He joined Bangladesh Police as an assistant superintendent of police in February 1988.
The government named him as IGP on April 8, 2020.
