Dhaka – Bangladesh on Sunday reported the ninth novel coronavirus death and 18 more new infections, raising the total number of Covid-19 patents to 88, officials said.
The single largest cases in a day of infections was reported on Sunday, and the number is double than that of Saturday. Bangladesh detected the first three cases of novel coronavirus on March 8.
A 55-year old man from Narayanganj district also died of the infection in the last 24 hours, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque. He urged all people to stay at their homes to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The health officials were previously saying a limited community infection. But with the large number of infections reported they are now saying the spell of community infections has started.
“Yes, we can now say that the community infections are there, but still they are confined in some clusters,” said Meerjady Sabrina Flora of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research.
