Dhaka – With one more person died on Wednesday, Bangladesh’s death toll from the novel coronavirus rose to six while the total number of infection stands at 54.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque told an online press briefing that three more cases infection of the virus were reported on Wednesday making the total Covid-19 patient to 54.
He added that another person, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital, died in the last 24 hours ended on Wednesday morning. Bangladesh reported first three cases of novel coronavirus on March 8 and reported the first death on March 18.
The minister said a total of 26 patient recovered and left hospitals for their homes.
More than 42,000 people have died so far from the Covid-19 outbreak worldwide, and there are currently nearly 8.5 lakh confirmed cases in 201 countries and territories.
“After detection of coronavirus cases first in China, we’ve taken necessary preparations since the first week of January this year to contain the disease,” he added.
