Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death toll rises to 4, total infected 39

Dhaka – Bangladesh has reported the fourth death from novel coronavirus and six more people infected, raising the total number of Covid-19 patient to 39, officials said on Tuesday.

The deceased was above 70 years old, Meerjady Sabrina Flora of the said the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said.

Of the six new patients, one returned from Saudi Arabia while the five others were got infected after coming in contact with COVID-19 patients, she said.

The IECDR tested a total of 712 samples since they started it in early this month. Of which 92 were tested in the last 24 hours ended Tuesday morning.

The government put 40 people suspected to have contacted the virus in isolation. Another 46 were kept in institutional quarantine, Flora added.

Bangladesh reported the first three cases of novel coronavirus on March 8.
