Dhaka – President Abdul Hamid has postponed parliament’s special sitting, which was slated for March 22 and 23, considering the risk of spread of novel coronavirus that killed two people in Bangladesh, an official said on Saturday.
The special parliamentary session was summoned to mark the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was born on March 17, 1920.
Joynal Abedin, press secretary to the president, said the special session was postponed. The President summoned the two-day to dedicate specially for Bangabandhu.
Indian former president Pranab Mukherjee and Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari were scheduled to deliver their speeches during the session.
